Huge Laser Show and Fireworks After Dark
This year will feature a huge laser light show following the concerts and before fireworks. Crowds are encouraged to come inside the fairgrounds to enjoy the venue up close and personal. The laser show and fireworks show is designed to provide the highest level of entertainment to crowds inside the fairgrounds. Those watching from a distance will not get the full effects of the amazing free event.
A huge crowd is expected for the concerts. The Mohawk Stage will feature popular area country singer Scott Thompson & Band of Rome Georgia. Scott and his band have opened for numerous country artists. They are excited to kick it up in Calhoun and entertain the crowds. This awesome artist and his band will be featured at 7:00 pm and again at 8:30 pm.
Tommy Ray Gurley is a great entertainer having performed locally at fair events for over 20 years. Performing a mixture of songs from the Elvis era that have remained highly popular throughout the years. Gurley has traveled and played at concerts, festivals and venues across the southeast throughout his career as well as a TV debut. He will come off the large stage and mix with the audience as he performs, dances and sings songs loved by all ages. You will enjoy his performances at 6:15 pm and 7:45 pm.
Southern Gospel Music will be provided on the Center Stage beginning at 7:00 pm featuring Stan Shuman from Coco Beach Florida. Stan has written numerous gospel songs recorded by groups across America and has sung with several popular quartets prior to beginning his solo ministry. He is a familiar face as he has performed at local fair scene events for several years.
Kids and adults alike will enjoy shows of magic and illusion by Mike Frisbee throughout the evening on the Midway Stage.
Fabulous fair foods will be offered for the event and vendors will shine with several offerings.
Bud Owens, organizer of this event since it’s beginning, states that admission is FREE thanks to presenting sponsor Mohawk. Owens states, “I am so excited that Mohawk has agreed to continue sponsoring the Star Spangled Celebration. We are prepared to have a safe and fun event for the entire family with magic & illusion, amazing concerts, vendors, a laser show and fireworks that will end the evening and ring in the Summer season. I invite everyone to come out, come early, bring your chairs and blankets and let’s celebrate our Independence Calhoun style”.
The venue will have three parking lot’s open beginning at 4:30 pm with gates opening at 5:00. The best view of the fireworks is inside the fair grounds. Anyone experiencing illness symptoms are asked to please be considerate and stay home. If there are any additional precautions recommended near the event date, information will be shared in advance. Coolers are welcome but subject to being checked at entry and the venue remains alcohol free and family focused.
